Dear Parents/Guardians:
I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you and your child to a new year at Northside High School. My name is Mrs. Brinson and I will be your child’s math teacher this semester. I am looking forward to getting to know you and your child throughout the coming year, which surely promises to bring with it, many new experiences and challenges. In order to make this semester a successful one, teamwork and cooperation will be required by all. As your son or daughter’s teacher, it is my goal to help him/her become a confident learner in Algebra and I will do my best to help make this class a positive experience for your child.
I have included a brochure of the routines and expectations for this year. One of the most important expectations for this year will be that students complete the majority of their homework ONLINE using USA Test Prep. This is an online mathematics practice tool that our school provides for all students. Your child will receive a username and password, along with instructions on how to log on. If you do not have internet access at home, please contact me right away to discuss how we can make arrangements to ensure your child is able to complete the assignments. Please read through the brochure thoroughly as I will be reading it with your child in class and having your child attach it to his or her math notebook, for quick and easy reference at all times. If you have any questions or concerns about anything, please don’t hesitate to contact me right away.
Also, constant communication between parents, teachers and students is very important to me. I like to keep parents/guardians informed on what the students are learning and on assignments or important dates to remember. I do this by sending out emails on a weekly basis or you can always stay informed by visiting my new website: chrystalbrinson.WEEBLY.COM. I have also started using a text messaging service called “Remind 101”. This is a quick and efficient way for me to send you and your child a text message on any important class reminders as well. Instructions for the text messaging service are on the front of the student brochure and are written below as well.
I look forward to working in partnership with you throughout the coming year and I am confident that together we can provide the support and encouragement needed to help your child succeed in my math class. If you have any questions now or at any time in the future, don’t hesitate to contact me. E-mail is the quickest way to reach me: [email protected] or you can call me at the school at (910) 455-4868.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Chrystal Brinson
